Over a week ago, I decided to do what I do best which is being a one-woman operation. The Jack of all trades, master of none in me just knew that By Moumi is all about the journeys and how you jot them down. As great as having the coolest photographers who can convey the personality of the brand on my behalf is always a plus; but once in a while you need to make it personal. It might be a little rough around the edges but it tells a story.
I came across this flower park that my mum dragged me along over Christmas and immediately I called Raduwah, a trusted model and a good friend, to come along for the shoot. Originally the trip was loosely planned for just the two of us with nothing but an iPhone and a snap film camera and a few outfits.
I always imagine By Moumi as a travelling band, or a 70s journalist that tags along with the band on tour; and we just hop along for the ride to document the journeys. With the littlest planning, our party became three when my bestie Matina spontaneously jumped in the cat caravan that morning for fun and to lend a hand.
It turned out to be quite a cool ride. I had only six rolls (all different types) of expired films and we just recorded the journey which magically made it in time for the sunset that we happened to be on the west. In the morning, at 6am, we had to sneak into the flower park so there would be no people, and we got to have the sunrise in the background… also unplanned.
Things happened for the best outcome when you have no expectations but trust that it will all be ok. Raduwa had the most fun despite being in the thinnest tulle dresses when it was 12° outside. We all took turns taking photos and videos and came back with plenty of memories.
The whole trip started and ended in less than 24 hours as we needed to get everyone back to work. And now we learned one thing… the best laid plan is having no plans… or regrets. Presence is truly a gift.
